The Ballad of Lonnie Tate

way down on highway 108
deep within the dusty Lone Star State
high upon a hill a rocky bluff
there once lived a man named Lonnie Tate

not content to be merely tough
Lonnie Tate is made of sterner stuff
take his tractor driving style
which could be described as off the duff

chorus:
they don't make many men like this anymore
even Texas couldn't handle very many more

Lonnie may decide to drive a mile
then bail off his tractor and walk awhile
deep under water or on dry land
upon the road the ditch a tree or the Nile

sometimes neighbors stop and lend a hand
to pry him out and help him to stand
and here he stands and walks today
he's a Texan ya'll tall and grand

chorus
