Broken Wing

see the bird with a broken wing
he has learned to fly
there's a man who loves to sing
whose song became a cry

now he's imprisoned by his very own
bound day and night away from home
he tries again to sing
but his captors press him down with his old memories

chorus 1:
sing away and soon the chains will break
there's not a prison cell that can hold your song
bound today but tomorrow the walls will fall
it won't be long

late at night he lies awake
shackled to the ground
dark and cold surround the man
no familiar sound

jailer guards on the freedom side
with his sword in hand
yet a smile upon the prisoner's lips
his spirit longs to stand

and he feels the song within his heart
waiting for another chance to start
and he begins to sing again
the walls are gonna crumble
they cannot hold it in

chorus 1

chorus 2:
sing away and soon the chains will break
there's not a prison cell that can hold your song
broken wing but tomorrow you will fly
across the sky
